Hey folks, This snake needs the most special kind of home. It is the world's longest snake species, so the care required will obviously be demanding. And it did not come from a great home, so it will need some extra TLC. In July 2009 two pythons were abandoned next to a trailer park in Lebanon County, PA. The owner, who was later tracked down by police, decided to dump them when he didn't want to keep them anymore. Both pythons were extremely malnourished and have been making up for lost time during their months at the rescue, eating several dozen f/t jumbo rats. The owner has since pled guilty in this case and officially released custody of the snakes (after releasing them in the wild months earlier). The indoor picture on the listing was taken 9/22/09 to show how much the snake has grown in the last couple months. The outdoor pictures were taken in July when the snake was first brought to the rescue. We have not been handling this snake much at the rescue because we've really been trying to let him rest and digest. He does display typical retic aggression. When we move him or take him out for cage cleaning it almost always involves repeated strikes, even with careful handling. Although he may settle down with regular handling, his new owner must be prepared for an 8-9 foot aggressive snake. Please do not apply for this snake casually or impulsively. This snake has already endured years of neglect and we want to make sure he goes to a great home. If you apply, please try to convince us that you are an experienced home and that you will give great care to this snake as it may approach 15-20 ft or more. Please also explain what security measures you're taking to keep the snake from escaping.
